At Walney School we understand our duty to safeguard all young people in our care. We work hard to foster a safe, calm and respectful environment in which students and staff can feel secure, respected and valued.
As a school, we recognise the risks that young people may face in the world today and we work with the young people in our care to help them recognise and understand these risks. Our safeguarding curriculum is delivered through a range of subject areas and, in particular through our:
As a staff body, we always adopt the view that ‘it could happen here’ and we endeavour to stay abreast of current issues affecting young people, so that we can address these matters effectively in school. Staff follow our procedures to ensure that children receive effective support and guidance. Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy can be accessed here. The procedures contained in this policy apply to all staff, governors, volunteers, and contractors.
